Harmonisation of the laboratory network of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection with the requirements of the European Union

As part of the implementation of the roadmap for Ukraine’s European integration, Oleh Osiyan, Acting Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Trade and Communications, and Volodymyr Stybel, Acting Director of the State Scientific-Research Control Institute of Veterinary Medicinal Products and Feed Additives, met with Stanisław Winiarczyk, Director of the National Veterinary Institute – National Research Institute of Pulawy (Poland).

The meeting agreed on important areas of cooperation between the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the National Institute of Poland, including

development of new methods of diagnostics and treatment of animals;
optimisation of the process of selecting analyses, taking into account the needs of the regions, depending on the volume of food production resources;
exchange of experience in ensuring animal health and welfare, prevention and diagnosis of infectious animal diseases, including zoonoses, as well as laboratory tests to determine food safety indicators.
As Oleg Siyan noted: ‘Reorganisation of the control system in Ukraine is one of the main priorities of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, including the introduction of a risk-based approach to laboratory testing. It is necessary to choose a different concept of activity: ‘analyses should be done where there is a need, not just for formality’, as implemented in the European Union’.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in effective and mutually beneficial further cooperation between the institutions.

10th International Symposium on Recent Advances in Food Analysis

10th International Symposium on Recent Advances in Food Analysis

Since 2003, when the 1st International Symposium on Recent Advances in Food Analysis (RAFA) was held in Prague, these scientific symposia have become regular and biennial, bringing together scientists from the world’s leading institutions conducting research in the field of ANALYTICAL AND BIOANALYTICAL STRATEGIES IN FOOD QUALITY AND SAFETY CONTROL. In the framework of the RAFA 2013 conference, the result of research of the National Reference Laboratory of Veterinary Drug Residues Control were presented about the cases natural ways of antibiotics’ ingress into organisms of agricultural animals.

In line with the concept of previous RAFA events, the Universities of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (UCT Prague, Czech Republic) and Wageningen Food Safety Research (WFSR), part of Wageningen University & Research (Netherlands), which are the organizers of RAFA 2022, have invited all scientific professionals circles and industry as well as representatives of national and international agencies, regulatory bodies, government and commercial laboratories to participate in the 10th International Symposium on Recent Advances in Food Analysis.

This year at the conference RAFA 2022 the National Reference Laboratory of Veterinary Drug Residues Control presented the materials of the joint project Nifursol marker metabolite (DNSH) determination by LC-MS/MS: development of the method and testing on incurred chicken tissues samples. This project is performed in collaboration with R-Biopharm Nederland B.V.
